How do people respond to and recover from challenges and tragedy? How does the novel answer this question through its central theme? Explain how the author develops this theme through the character of Byron.

One group will complete the vocabulary and the other group will complete the independent questions

For this assignment, read through each of the essays, including the planning stages. In a Google doc, identify 2 things you liked about EACH essat and 2 things you would change about EACH essay. Please use complete sentences and give examples.

Before moving on, please make sure you have completed yesterday's assignment on the examples. 

Now it is time for you to choose your topic that you will be arguing for. 

Your choices are: 
1. Social Media 
2. Cell Phones 
3. Junk Food 
4. Grading 
5. Single-Sex Classrooms (all boys vs all girl classrooms) 

There are links provided under each topic. You will use these as the research for your writing. Please skim through each one before making your choice. Once you have made your choice, it is time to start researching and taking notes! Complete your research notes in a Google doc and submit it. 

In your science notebooks please complete
4 vocabulary definitions per article (you should have a total of 20)
Notes on each article 
Annotations on each article (this is to be done while reading) this means highlighting, taking small notes, adding question marks, exclamation points, etc.

If you were in Ancient Egypt, what would you see? What would you do? Explain these things in your comic


In your comic you must have at least 4 slides explaining what life was like in Ancient Egypt using complete sentences, at least 2 different backgrounds, and at least 2 different characters.

Chapter 2 reading and chapter 2 questions

Have you watched the Khan Academy video? If not, do not start this assignment. Watch the video first, then complete the brochure. You may use notes, Google, and table partners. Each student is to submit their own brochure. You are not moving seats during this time and the voice levels should be low. Please be on task and not doing anything you are not supposed to :) If it gets too loud then you are finishing independently. These answers require more than one sentence. Answer in at least 3-5 full sentences. If you turn it in without 3-5 sentences per each section you will be redoing it.

Work in groups of 2-3 to learn about ONE of the text feature cards. Follow the instructions to make a Google slide about the feature.
